Jumblies makes art in unexpected places for, about, and with the people who live there, thus creating «transient utopias and far-reaching ripples» (Leah). Everyone is welcome.

Jumblies theatre combines the power of theatre on an epic scale, intimate art-making and a philosophy of wholehearted social inclusion. Founded in 2001 by artistic director Ruth Howard, Jumblies is informed by the British community play movement, which engages full communities in large-scale productions about their histories and issues. Jumblies sets up multi-year residencies in urban neighbourhoods and employs professional artists in all disciplines to create new works of art to suit and reflect that community. Jumblies welcomes everyone who wants to take part and bridges differences of language, culture, ability, age, and class.
